"The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. It’s an incredible feeling to walk among more than 1,200 monkeys, especially when you get to see tiny baby monkeys up close! The entire sanctuary is lush, peaceful, and full of history. There is a lot of walking and plenty of stairs, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. Before we went in, several locals advised us not to wear glasses, earrings, or anything the monkeys might mistake for peanuts—super helpful advice. And seriously, do NOT bring any food inside. The monkeys never bothered us. As long as you leave them alone, they’ll leave you alone. If you’re nervous, there are guides everywhere who can walk with you and help “protect” you from curious monkeys. If you want a closer interaction, they can even guide a monkey onto your shoulder and offer them a snack for a photo opportunity. Beyond the monkeys, the sanctuary is full of culture and history. There’s a cremation and burial temple on site, as well as an exhibition showcasing local artwork created by children and young adults, which adds a meaningful, human touch to the visit. Overall, if you’re interested in a unique, up-close wildlife encounter in a serene, sacred setting, I highly recommend adding the Monkey Forest to your Ubud itinerary."

"Splendid museum dedicated to one man, the artist Antonio Blanco. He had a style of his own. Skilled and amusing. Very nice grounds. with exotic birds and a nice place to wander around after visiting Murni's Warung for a meal just on the other side of the bridge."

"Do your best to avoid the women trying to sell you sari once you park. They are aggressive and prices vary wildly. We paid one lady for three only to find another lady was charging us for two when all we needed was four. There is not a lot to see. Elephant Cave is small and the burning incense can be overpowering. The other "temple" seems to be stones from a previous temple."
