If you like Palo Duro you'll love Caprock Canyons. Way out near Quitique (Kitty kway) Texas Caprock is just gorgeous. Red rock canyon walls plenty of hiking and a huge herd of Bison as the majority …Full review by Rick B

In the middle of nowhere, this is one of the best of Texas' state parks for hiking. The scenery is gorgeous and the trails well maintained. And above all, it's not crowded. We did two trails that …Full review by Mike H
Traveling with 4 kids (ages 1, 3, 5, 7) in early August. Is this worth a stop as it is on the way from Palo Duro Canyon to Houston? Not planning on doing any hiking as all the hikes looked long for my kids' ages but just wondering if worth it to drive and stop at the scenic lookouts along the road. It's the last day of a 3 week national parks roadtrip - kids are all well traveled.

We just spent 2 nights in each Palo Duro & caprock state parks. Palo Duro had the better views for sure, cool rocks/boulders to climb all over, a cave right off the park road, & gift shop, but for younger kids I’d say Caprock is pretty cool because of the bison, prairie dogs, 2 play areas, swimming hole, & fishing area. Both had fun geocaches & historical features. The trails at both were rather cool, and you don’t have to travel far down them to enjoy them!
