Dear mxrivas, Thank you for your inquiry. We are happy to hear that your son is doing an internship in our area! I encourage him to come to the South Walton Visitor Center on the corner of Hwy. 331 and Hwy. 98 in Santa Rosa Beach. We are open every day from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and can share recommendations about the many wonderful things to see and do in South Walton. We can provide maps and material on our four state parks and the Point Washington State Forest as well as information on our local Friends of the South Walton Sea Turtles Volunteer Group and our Volunteer Beach Ambassador Program. We have many miles of hiking and biking trails, 15 rare Coastal Dune Lakes (found in only a few places in the world), the Biophilia Nature Center, and 16 extraordinary beach communities that rest on 26 miles of sugar-white sand along the Gulf of Mexico. South Walton is also home to the first Underwater Art Museum in the United States and has many artificial reefs for snorkeling and scuba diving. In addition to our turquoise Gulf waters and sugar-white sand beaches, South Walton is home to four state parks and 15 Coastal Dune Lakes, which are rare bodies of water found in only a few places in the world. South Walton also offers many opportunities for hiking and biking. We support a thriving art community and you will find many galleries throughout our 16 beach communities.
