Harris County Commissioners Court on Thursday gave final approval to its financial plan for the upcoming year, including an 8% increase in the county's property tax rate for the new fiscal year beginning on Oct.

Shawnee County leaders have approved the 2025 budget and the increases that come with it. The Shawnee County Board of Commissioners signed off on its 2025 budget Thursday morning. Overall, commissioners approved a budget that increased nearly $6 million from the 2024 budget.

Baked into this year’s budget is the start of a five-year plan to offset any future structural deficits via higher fees and spending cuts.
