The New York Giants returned to East Rutherford on Wednesday morning and welcomed their cross-town rivals, the New York Jets, for the second of two joint practices. The two teams will go their separate ways after practice before linking back up on Saturday night for a Week 2 preseason matchup at MetLife Stadium.

Fields aside, it’s a big game for backup QBs Adrian Martinez and rookie Brady Cook. One or both likely will be on the Jets’ practice squad. One could be Fields’ backup in Week 1 with Tyrod Taylor recovering from a knee scope. It’s possible the Jets could try to acquire or sign a veteran for insurance.
