NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India and the UK have decided to resume talks on a proposed trade agreement, Indian Trade Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday, adding that the countries will look to speed up negotiations.

The trade deal with the UK, talks for which began in 2022, assumes significance as it would be India’s first full-fledged agreement with a Western country, facilitating deeper economic integration with a major global services sector leader.

A lawyer for Luigi Mangione, the man accused of fatally gunning down U.S. health insurance executive Brian Thompson in December, told a judge Friday that her client was illegally searched during his arrest and she would seek to exclude that evidence from his trial on state murder and terrorism charges.
