A new case of lottery fever is spreading across the United States ahead of Wednesday's Powerball drawing with the jackpot jumping to more than $600 million. NBC’s Jesse Kirsch reports for TODAY.
The Connecticut Lottery player was one of eight Powerball players across the nation to win a prize totaling over $100,000 following the drawing, according to Powerball. The player initially won $50,000, and $50,000 was added to their winnings due to a Power Play. The odds of winning were one in over 913,000, according to the Powerball odds page.

The largest jackpot this year was a $526.5 million prize won March 29 in California. The Saturday, Aug. 16 numbers are 23-40-49-65-69 Powerball 23 Power Play 3x.
MIDDLETOWN, PA – A lucky player in Warren County scored a $150,000 win in Monday night’s Powerball® drawing after purchasing a ticket online using the Power Play® option, according to the Pennsylvania Lottery.
A H-E-B on the San Antonio's Northeast side sold one lucky customer a $1 million winning ticket, the Texas Lottery website states. It was purchased at the store's checkout counter located at 17238 Bulverde Road, San Antonio, TX, 78247 — not far from Friesenhahn Park and the Northern Hills Golf Course.
All Arizona Lottery retailers will redeem prizes up to $100 and may redeem winnings up to $599. For prizes over $599, winners can submit winning tickets through the mail or in person at Arizona Lottery offices. By mail, send a winner claim form, winning lottery ticket and a copy of a government-issued ID to P.O. Box 2913, Phoenix, AZ 85062.
