Michigan Democrats have one last chance to wield their legislative majorities to pass bills opposed by Republicans. Their agenda remains unclear.

House Republicans took back control of the chamber in Tuesday’s election, flipping key districts in southeast Michigan and the Upper Peninsula while hanging onto competitive seats in Oakland County.

Michigan Republicans have flipped the state House in their favor, concluding a Democratic trifecta that has passed legislation without significant resistance and enacted their will on the state. Republicans in the state won the necessary 56 seats and flipped back the chamber they lost in 2022.
