MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Federal officers have encountered opposition in nearly all of the cities targeted by President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement campaign. But it was in Minnesota — a state that’s been in daily conflict with the Trump administration in 2026 — that a 37-year-old woman was shot and killed by an immigration officer.
The Minnesota Department of Human Services announced on Thursday that it is freezing new provider enrollments in 13 categories of Medicaid services, which it says are at high risk for fraud. The department does not have a start date for the freeze, but it is slated to last at least six months.
