Netflix’s ad-supported plan has notched a new level of monthly active users -- 70 million, according to the California-based streaming giant.

Netflix’s cheaper, ad-supported tier has reached 70 million global monthly active users two years after it was launched.

Netflix stock closed at a new record Tuesday afternoon, after the company announced that its advertisement-supported subscription tier has hit 70 million global monthly active users. Netflix said on Tuesday that “over 50% of new Netflix sign-ups are for the ads plan in ad-supported countries.
