The Orlando Pride suffered their third loss of the season with a 1-0 home setback to the Kansas City Current on Friday night. Both sides looked evenly matched for most of the game, but a defensive lapse from the Pride (5-3-1, 16 points) in the second half allowed Kansas City (7-2-0, 21 points) to cement its lead at the top of the NWSL standings.

The Kansas City Current vs. Orlando Pride matchup Friday night was labeled appointment TV, and it delivered. While it won’t fully erase Kansas City’s pain of losing in Orlando in the NWSL playoffs last season, the Current got some revenge.

The Current burst out of the gates, winning each of its first five matches of the 2025 season. However, the team stumbled a little bit, losing a pair of road matches to the North Carolina Courage and Seattle Reign, briefly bringing down optimism. However, the good vibes returned on home soil this past Sunday as KC hammered Bay FC, 4-1.
