Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian announced Thursday that backup quarterback Arch Manning will be starting Saturday vs. the University of Louisiana-Monroe. Quinn Ewers will continue to recover from an abdominal strain he suffered during the Longhorns' 56-7 win over UTSA in Week 3.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said injured QB Quinn Ewers "has made great strides," but he'll rest for at least one more week as Arch Manning gets his first start.

It was easy to think Manning, who is expected to start Saturday, might transfer when Ewers returned, but there was never a good reason.
