WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday said Elon Musk and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will lead a new “Department of Government Efficiency” — which is not, despite the name, a government agency.

A biotech entrepreneur with origins in Ohio — who at one point competed with Donald Trump for the White House — is now taking a seat at his cabinet’s table. On Tuesday, Trump appointed Vivek Ramaswamy to co-head a new “Department of Government Efficiency” with fellow billionaire Elon Musk.

The new organization isn't an official department. It is charged with working from the outside of the government to offer the White House “advice and guidance."
