The Cincinnati Reds play the San Diego Padres after Spencer Steer hit three home runs on Friday in an 8-1 win over the Padres.

Former San Diego Padres pitcher Nick Martinez allowed a walk to Jackson Merrill in the top of the first inning and a walk to Trenton Brooks in the top of the ninth inning. Those were his only blemishes until Elias Diaz provided a pinch-hit double in the top of the ninth inning. It put runners at second and third and ended the night for Martinez.

While Martinez hung his head, the Padres celebrated as Elias Díaz reached second base following his double off the wall in center field in the ninth inning. They would also get to celebrate a runner crossing the plate, as Taylor Rodgers, another former Padres pitcher, walked in a run before finishing off an 8-1 Reds victory.
