Australian actor Tristan Rogers, best known for his long-running, off-and-on portrayal of Robert Scorpio on the ABC soap "General Hospital," died Friday at age 79.

General Hospital executive producer Frank Valenti said the show's 'family is heartbroken to hear' of his passing.

Tristan Rogers, who played Robert Scorpio on ABC’s General Hospital, died Friday at the age of 79. His manager Meryl Soodak confirmed the news to Deadline. According to the report, it was revealed Rogers had been diagnosed in July with lung cancer.
