Dozens of flood warnings and alerts remain in place across England on Sunday as disruption from Storm Bert continues in many parts of the UK. A man in his 60s died on Saturday after a tree hit his car near Winchester, while a number of homes were flooded in counties Down and Tyrone in Northern Ireland.

It comes after as much as 64.4mm of rain fell in Capel Curig, north Wales, in 12 hours on Saturday and wind gusts of up to 82mph were recorded in the Welsh village. A man in his 60s died after a tree fell on a car on the A34 near Winchester, Hampshire Police said.

Anyone planning to travel this weekend is being warned to take care as Storm Bert sweeps in and brings snow, ice and rain in its wake. The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for snow, ice and rain across most of the UK and there is an amber warning in place across parts of Scotland.

Heavy snow from Storm Bert has stranded passengers at an airport in north-east England. Flights from Newcastle are delayed by several hours with some arrivals diverted to Edinburgh and Belfast or cancelled.
