Nippon Steel Corp.’s Vice President Takahiro Mori is set for a US visit that will include a meeting next week with workers representing the three major local unions that run United States Steel Corp.’s iconic plants in the Pittsburgh area.

Nippon Steel believes it will be able to complete the $14.9 billion acquisition of United States Steel Corp. by the end of the year now that the presidential election is over.

Nippon Steel may consider a lawsuit against the U.S. government if it blocks its $14.9 billion acquisition of U.S. Steel.

Vice President Takahiro Mori is expected to visit the US next week and will meet with three local unions in the Pittsburgh area as the company works to gain approval for the US Steel (NYSE:X) deal, according to media reports from Bloomberg and CTFN.

The Nippon Steel Corp. executive spearheading the $14.9 billion acquisition of United States Steel Corp. will be returning to the Pittsburgh region this weekend to help seal the nearly year-old deal.
