Texas has stopped providing new funding toward building a U.S.-Mexico border wall after lawmakers quietly approved a new budget that does not include funding for the project.

Andrew Mahaleris, a senior aide to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, told Newsweek efforts to secure the border have enabled the state to make adjustments.

The court split 6-3 along ideological lines on a case from Tennessee. About two dozen states have similar bans in place.

The Supreme Court ruled against Texas and landowners who challenged a plan to store thousands of metric tons of nuclear waste at a facility in the state.
