Kengo Tomita also singled in Japan’s four-run second inning. Yen Cheng Yu hit a two-run home run for Taiwan in the sixth. Japan will play Mexico in a winners’ bracket game Sunday.

Japan now owns 11 Little League World Series championships, second to Taiwan, which has 17. If all American titles were counted together, however, the USA would have 33.

Japan won the 2015 Little League World Series 18-11 on Sunday in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Per the ABC broadcast, it was the highest-scoring championship game in history.
