A Detroit resident reached out to 7 News Detroit after a sidewalk near his home was left damaged for years. Now, the city is preparing to repair it.

On May 24, part of the front of the Temple Bar, located on Cass Avenue, crashed onto the sidewalk below. The building was closed indefinitely for repairs.

After an apartment building exploded on Detroit's west side Monday morning, residents had to watch as their building with all their belongings was demolished due to safety concerns.

The Detroit Life Building, 2210 Park Ave., is a tall and skinny 10-story neoclassical building from 1923 that was named after an original tenant, Detroit Life Insurance.
