The UK has been hit by weather chaos as snow blankets towns up and down the country, and the Met Office says there is more in store. On Tuesday, the agency issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice in Scotland, northern England, parts of south-east England, most of Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Wintry conditions are set to persist around Scotland on Wednesday, with yellow weather warnings in place for the rest of the country. In North Staffordshire and the BBC has forecast the next bout of snow will fall on Friday (January 9) from 9pm to around 2am the next day. Before then and the Beeb says there will be some light rain tomorrow, sleet on Wednesday night, before those wintry conditions make a return on the approach to the weekend.

The Met Office has issued an ice weather warning in the South West with immediate effect today. Meteorologists warn of icy patches on roads across the region, notably across Devon and the eastern half of Cornwall this morning (Friday, Janaury 2). Untreated roads may be slippery and could lead to slips, falls and car crashes in the region.
