A 3.5 magnitude earthquake just south of Greenback, Tennessee was felt across the Southeast region Saturday morning, including North Carolina and the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area.

A light, 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck in Tennessee on Saturday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The temblor happened at 9:04 a.m. Eastern about 12 miles southeast of Greenback, Tenn.

The earthquake was about 15 miles deep, the USGS says, which is considered a shallow quake.  It was the seventh earthquake with a 4.0 magnitude or greater since 1900 and the first since a 4.
