WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger were down on Friday. Downdetector, a platform that tracks online outages, showed over 4000 reports about WhatsApp in the United States and over 10,000 in India at the time of writing this story.

Thousands of Canadians and Americans reported WhatsApp issues Friday morning, with some people also having Facebook and Messenger issues.

Facebook Messenger is the latest social media app to run into technical difficulties this afternoon. Users of the popular messaging service are experiencing problems on Friday, February 28, with the majority concerning sending messages.

WhatsApp users worldwide, including those in India and the United States, reported a widespread outage on February 28. Downdetector data indicates the outage began at approximately 8:45 PM IST and remains ongoing.
