TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Ja'Khi Douglas had a 36-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter and Florida State defeated Cal 14-9 on Saturday in the Bears' first Atlantic Coast Conference game.

In a game that came down to the final minute against a California Golden Bears team that racked up over 400 total yards, 300+ in the air, the Florida State Seminoles did something they hadn’t done in 294 days.

The Seminoles played with a visible chip on their collective shoulder and earned a sorely needed victory over new ACC rival California, 14-9, at Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday night. The win stops the bleeding for FSU, which had lost four consecutive games since beating Louisville in the ACC Championship Game last Dec. 2.
