Deepinder Goyal was trolled due to the unusual terms of the job offer - no salary for the first year and a hefty Rs 20 lakh fee required from candidates.

To demonstrate that the company is not trying to save money, Zomato would contribute Rs 50 lakh (equivalent to a chief of staff salary) to a charity of the employee's choice.

Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal revealed that the company received over 10,000 applications for the chief of staff role, which requires a ₹20 lakh donation. The selected individual will get no salary for the first one year.
