Google is pulling its Gemini assistant from the main Google app on iOS, in a bid to encourage users to download the dedicated Gemini app.

The main Google app on iOS acted as a switcher between Google Search and Gemini. But in February 2025, Google removed the switcher interface. However, iOS users on Google app v356.0 can still use the Gemini experience in the app via the “More” tab, says the report.

Google has launched a standalone Gemini app for iOS users, now available for download from the App Store. This new release offers a more comprehensive set of functionalities and features compared to its predecessor within the Google app.
