The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for very heavy showers in Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Puducherry, Yanam, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. A yellow alert for intense downpours over Rayalaseema has also been declared.

The IMD forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall in coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on November 27, with isolated areas receiving extremely heavy rainfall. The downpour is likely to persist from November 28 to 30,

A total of 17 disaster response teams, comprising NDRF and state personnel, have been dispatched to vulnerable areas such as Chennai, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore and Thanjavur districts.
