Medical examiner testifies in trial of Indianapolis officers accused of killing man
The trial of two Indianapolis officers charged in the death of Herman Whitfield III continues Wednesday with testimony from the medical examiner. Whitfield, a 39-year-old gifted pianist, died after police responded to a 911 call from his parents — Gladys Whitfield and Herman Whitfield Jr.

INDIANAPOLIS — It’s been nearly three years since Herman Whitfield III died under the weight of Indianapolis law enforcement officers while handcuffed face down, naked and in the throes of a mental health episode. Monday, the trial of two policemen involved in the deadly encounter begins.
