Chidsey, the first chief executive outside of the chain’s founding family, joined Subway as CEO in 2019. His departure marks another entry on the list of fast food chain CEOs who have stepped down this year for a variety of reasons, including Starbucks, Chipotle, Shake Shack, and Wendy’s.

The sandwich chain named current executive Carrie Walsh interim CEO as it conducts a search for a permanent successor.

Subway on Tuesday said CEO John Chidsey is stepping down at the end of the year in the latest C-suite shakeup at a major fast-food chain, according to a report. Chidsey took the helm at the largest sub shop chain in 2019.
