ARLINGTON — It appears the Rangers - and more importantly - reliever Luke Jackson dodged a bullet on Monday.
It was not too long ago that Texas Rangers slugger Adolis Garcia had turned himself into one of the most feared right fielders in baseball. In the field, he had a rocket arm that he would use to hose down runners attempting to take an extra base.
Though the Tigers had built up more credibility by snagging five wins in a row, they had a tough pill to swallow in the second game of the series. They got away with a 2-1 win thanks to a dominant pitching performance from Tarik Skubal. Detroit did not get that type of outing from any of its pitching on Saturday night.
Luke Jackson’s save attempt during the Texas Rangers’ win over the Colorado Rockies on Monday was cut short after a line drive comebacker was sent right back at Jackson and struck the relief pitcher in the right arm. Jackson immediately exited the game with Rangers’ athletic trainer Matt Lucero.
