The IPO was subscribed to a total of 2.55 times more than the offered shares. The retail investors booked the issue 3.6 times.

NTPC Green Energy, the renewable energy arm of state-owned NTPC , garnered bids worth 154.06 billion rupees ($1.83 billion) on Friday for its $1.2 billion initial public offering, as investors bet on the country's growing clean energy needs.

In addition to debt repayment and other basic business needs, the Rs 10,000 crore IPO proceeds will be invested in NTPC Renewable Energy.
