Oliver Gibson, who played defensive tackle in the NFL from 1995 to 2003, has died at the age of 53.

A former Notre Dame defensive tackle who went on to play in the NFL for nine seasons died. Per a post on Facebook by his family, Oliver Gibson died. The cause of death was not revealed.

Ahead of the 1999 season, Gibson signed with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he became a full-time starter. He started all 48 games over the next three seasons. In 2002, injuries limited him to nine games, and he returned to a reserve role in 2003 -- his final year in the league.
