The 6-foot-3, 150-pound high school senior is ranked as the No. 13 safety in the nation and No. 23 in Texas by the 247Sports Composite. He becomes the 23rd hard commit for the Bulldogs, 10th 4-star commit and fourth safety commit alongside fellow 4-stars Zech Fort and Jordan Smith and 3-star Kealan Jones.

Mathews was top-ranked safety in the class of 2022, signing with Texas A&M under current Auburn defensive coordinator DJ Durkin. After playing in 21 games with the Aggies, Mathews totaled 66 tackles, eight pass breakups and an interception. He transferred after the 2023 season and spent one year in junior college.
