The massive tax and spending cut bill that Congress passed Thursday ends federal tax incentives for electric vehicles.

It is the end of the line for US electric vehicle tax credits. Sweeping tax and budget legislation approved by Congress on Thursday means $7,500 tax credits for buying or leasing new electric vehicles will end on Sept.

In a recall notice posted with the the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Nissan said it had identified bearing failures in certain vehicles. Nissan is recalling 443,899 vehicles in the U.S., the notice shows. In Canada, 37,837 are affected, a Nissan spokesperson told the Associated Press.

Nissan has initiated a massive recall of over480,000 vehicles across the U.S. and Canada due to potential manufacturing defects in the engines. The recall specifically targets models with VC-Turbo engines,

Nissan said in its announcement that a failed engine can lead to a “loss of motive power" and increase the risk of a crash.
