You can try System Restore again and choose a different restore point. If you continue to see this error, you can try an advanced recovery method.

On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options Select System Restore Since this method will ensure no third-party conflict, the system restoration should work as expected.

This method accomplishes the same goal as running System Restore through Safe Mode but is only available if the user had System Restore activated in Vista.

Choose "See Advanced Repair Options," "Troubleshoot," and "Advanced Options." Choose the system recovery option you want: System Restore, System Image Recovery or Automatic Repair.
