How to make a DIY mechanical paper clock Rock around the clock with this cool little project.
Made up a cardboard fold-template first to check the size was OK then transferred that to the plate and off we go. A quick review of the internet reveals the pinout for the clock and the backlight.
Our clock cost $10.19 for materials and a few minutes pawing through the scrap-wood pile. A few stray pieces of 4/4 red oak and a scrap of 1/4-inch walnut plywood, and the project was ready.
The clock is driven by the ubiquitous 28BYJ-48 stepper motors that can be found on eBay for a few bucks. They don’t have much torque, but all they have to do here is turn a cardboard disk.
