The Westlake High girls soccer team has found another gear in the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 playoffs. Layla Simon scored twice and KK Chowana put the game away late as Westlake reached the CIF-SS semifinals for the second time in three years Tuesday night with a 3-0 win over visiting Huntington Beach-Edison.

The Silverado boys soccer team beat Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy 2-1 on Wednesday in the CIF-Southern Section Division 7 quarterfinals.
