Notre Dame football was dealt a devastating blow this offseason when defensive coordinator Al Golden left to take the same position with the Cincinnati Bengals. Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish program eventually decided on former Ohio State defensive coordinator and Rutgers head coach Chris Ash to replace Golden.
Notre Dame is expected to fill the voids remaining on its recruiting staff quickly, with spring practice approaching and the 2026 cycle entering a pivotal period. Dom Spalding, who's assisted most recently at Big Ten program Northwestern and previously logged multiple seasons at Youngstown State, is joining Freeman's Notre Dame program as an offensive analyst, multiple sources tell FootballScoop. He'll specifically work with the Irish's wide receivers corps.
