International train travel from London St Pancras could be set for a major expansion, potentially connecting the UK capital directly with destinations like Germany, Switzerland and even Italy.

Eurostar runs trains to Lille, Paris, Brussels, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Since Brexit, the number of destinations it serves from London has shrunk, with Eurostar abandoning routes to the Mediterranean, the French Alps and Disneyland Paris.
London St Pancras Highspeed has also partnered with Getlink, the French firm that operates the Channel Tunnel, with the aim of growing international rail links between the UK and Europe. Due to high passenger demand in these regions, Getlink told Metro they hope new direct services could serve five major European cities.
Plans are underway to almost triple the capacity of London’s St Pancras station, which will bring new train services to European destinations.
