The OU Daily reported that weather service meteorologists lost their jobs, along with OU meteorology students who were preparing to take full-time roles at weather forecast offices. Also reportedly on the chopping block were employees at the National Severe Storms Laboratory and those involved with critical daily weather observations.

According to the NWS, the tornado first touched down at 4:25 a.m. northeast of Hogansville off Highway 29, where numerous trees were snapped and uprooted.
