Luka Dončić with 29 Points vs. LA Clippers, 03/02/2025

In just eight games with the Los Angeles Lakers, Luka Dončić is already making history with his new team. The young point guard is proving to be a good match alongside LeBron James, hoping to lead the franchise to another title.

The thought was Dallas viewed Dončić as the face of the franchise, and the expectation was that he would spend his entire career in the Lone Star state. However, the Mavericks front office believed he was not the player to invest in long-term, resulting in the trade.

The Clippers have lost four of their last five, and despite having one of the league's top defenses, got exposed by the Lakers on Friday. Lakers superstars Luka Doncic and LeBron James combined for 59 points in their win over the Clippers, while no other Laker scored in double digits.

Dončić and the Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 111-102 Thursday and secured a 106-102 win Friday. The Lakers are now 9-2 overall since Dončić was traded to Los Angeles (5-2 when he's been in the starting lineup).
