TOKYO -- Tokyo's Edogawa Ward is trialing a virtual ward office in the metaverse, aiming to offer administrative services for people unable to visit the real-life office.

“Tokyo faces dangers on all sides,” said Nobuyuki Tsuchiya, an anti-flooding expert and the former head of civil engineering for Tokyo’s flood-prone Edogawa ward.

Tokyo's Edogawa Ward is one success story. About 37,000 people are moving to the ward annually, with 90 percent of them in their 20s and 30s.
