CAIRO, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Israeli airstrikes killed at least 31 people in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, Palestinian medics said, with nearly half of the deaths in northern areas where the army has waged a month-long campaign it says is aimed at preventing Hamas from regrouping.

Israel launched dozens of  airstrikes across Lebanon's northeastern farming villages, killing at least 52 people and wounding scores more, the Lebanese Health Ministry reported.

Some 93 people were killed, another 40 people were missing and dozens injured, according to the Gaza government media office.

The Israeli military said, without giving details, that its forces had "eliminated terrorists" in the central Gaza Strip and Jabalia area.

Evacuations of foreign passport holders from the Gaza Strip have been suspended in response to an Israeli air strike on an ambulance in the enclave, according to Egyptian security sources. They told Reuters news agency that there had been no further evacuations via the Rafah crossing into Egypt since Friday afternoon,

Israel denies this, saying it is fighting Hamas militants who launch attacks from there. Medics said at least 13 Palestinians were killed in separate attacks on houses in Beit Lahiya town and Jabalia,

Israeli forces stepped up bombardment of the Gaza Strip on Sunday killing at least 23 people, Palestinian medics said, with over half the deaths in northern areas where the army has waged a month-long campaign it says is to prevent Hamas from regrouping.
