Thousands of users worldwide are reporting issues accessing WhatsApp this afternoon. The popular Meta-owned messaging app appeared to go down just after 3:30pm Irish time. Gremlins are still ongoing at the time of writing, with no word on when it will be fixed.

WhatsApp users worldwide, including those in India and the United States, reported a widespread outage on February 28. Downdetector data indicates the outage began at approximately 8:45 PM IST and remains ongoing.

Reports of Whatsapp issues have now risen to nearly 40,000 on Down Detector. As of 3:45 pm, around 60 per cent of the reports are relating to sending messages, around 20 per cent of the issues are due to the app the remaining 20 per cent have reported server connection issues.
