Bangladesh’s interim government Monday protested a “violent demonstration” at its Assistant High Commission in Agartala by a group of people protesting against the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das and demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the incident as “deeply regrettable” even as Bangladesh said it appeared to be “pre-planned” and blamed Tripura Police for not doing enough.
