Elton John's musical 'Tammy Faye' announces its Dec. 8 closing date less than a week after a weak opening on Broadway. The show was a hit in London's West End.

Elton John ’s multimillion-dollar musical Tammy Faye is to close. The announcement comes just days after its opening night. The Broadway show, based on the life of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker, opened on 14 November.

Tammy Faye features a book by Olivier Award-winning writer James Graham ( Dear England, Ink) , choreography by Lynne Page ( Ink, Standing at the Sky’s Edge ) and direction by Olivier Award-winner Rupert Goold ( Patriots, Dear England ).

“Tammy Faye” will take its final Broadway bow on Dec. 8. Following previews that began on Oct. 19, “Tammy Faye” opened on Nov. 14 the Palace Theatre. Upon closing, the musical will have played 24 previews and 29 performances.
