Since Democratic lawmakers left Texas to delay Republicans’ new map, state leaders have challenged the limits of traditional democratic norms to break the impasse.

Sen. John Cornyn and state Attorney General Ken Paxton have been competing to show that they’re supporting Trump and fighting Democrats.

The Texas House will reconvene today as many Democratic lawmakers left the state to block a vote on a Trump-approved congressional map that would benefit the GOP. Texas Governor Abbott threatened to arrest or expel those who do not return.
