The first round of the 2025 NHL draft is in the books. Locally, the Red Wings added some skill and grit by selecting winger Carter Bear of the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League. Michigan and Michigan State each produced first-round picks.

The Detroit Red Wings added nine prospects to the organization at the 2025 NHL Draft, selecting players that add to the pipeline at every position. 2024-25: Tied for seventh in the Western Hockey League with 40 goals in 56 games and led Everett with 82 points before a season-ending Achilles injury in March.

The Detroit Red Wings today selected seven players during the second day of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft at L.A. Live’s Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. The Red Wings chose right wing Eddie Genborg (44th overall) in the second round before taking goaltender Michal Pradel (75th overall) in the third round.
