Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has spoken to US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following their extraordinary exchange in the Oval Office. A statement from No 10 on Friday night confirmed the prime minister had spoken with the US and Ukrainian presidents and that he retained "unwavering support for Ukraine".

Sir Keir Starmer and Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet in Downing Street on Saturday afternoon, No 10 said, after the Ukrainian President arrived in the UK by plane. The British PM last night declared the country's 'unwavering support' for Ukraine after Mr Zelensky's acrimonious meeting with Donald Trump at the White House which ended early.

Starmer seems to have come away with the chance at avoiding tariffs by recognising the constraints of the reality on the ground in Washington.
