President Donald Trump has nominated Navy Adm. Daryl L. Caudle to serve as the Chief of Naval Operations, the highest-ranking position in the U.S. Navy, according to a release put out Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the White House formally sent the nomination of Admiral Daryl L. Caudle to the U.S. Senate, where it was referred to the Senate Armed Services Committee for consideration.

Caudle, a career submariner from North Carolina, has been in command of the Norfolk, Virginia-based U.S. Fleet Forces Command since December 2021.
